Doubleweave: Beyond the Basics with Jennifer Moore
In this round robin workshop participants will explore what can be done within the techniques of doubleweave with multiple layers of cloth on a multi-shaft loom. We will weave samples and study the theory behind a variety of structures. Four-shaft structures include 4-color block rotation, double-block layer exchange, tubular log cabin, and overshot-patterned doubleweave. Eight-shaft structures include 4-layer weaves, double-width twill cloth, decorative stitched cloth, doubleweave checkerboards and windows, 8-shaft double-blocks, twill pickup and block pickup.
Skill Requirements: Intermediate. No prior experience in doubleweave is needed, but students must know how to warp a loom according to instructions. Students will bring a 4-shaft or 8-shaft table or floor loom warped according to instructions.
