Dimensional Weaving:  My Journey from Scientist to Fiber Artist 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Martina emigrated as a young girl from Prague to Canada and went on to earn her doctorate in plant sciences.  She was working as a molecular geneticist at Indiana University when she and her husband started their family.  One day in 2002 while breastfeeding one son and coloring with the other, Martina realized that she was ready to go back to her roots as an artist.

Martina will share her long an unusual path to an art career and how she arrived at her particular blend of weaving and felting in this fascinating presentation.

Martina Celerin Bio:

"I am a fiber artist. I create 3 dimensional weavings using reclaimed and recycled materials. I love to create tapestries that are stories of the world around me - people I've met, places I've been and things that make me smile."

Martina shows her work at several art shows each year throughout the U.S. and is a regular exhibitor in the By Hand Gallery in Bloomington, Indiana and in the Orchard Gallery in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  Martina also completes several commissioned pieces each year.

Presentation follows general Guild meeting
